Kidney cancer patients, caregivers, family and survivors join an informative session in Hamilton, ON
Toronto, Ontario, October 10, 2019 – The Urologic Cancer Centre for Research & Innovation and Kidney Cancer Canada – Cancer du rein Canada host a free kidney cancer information session to provide patients, caregivers, family and survivors with the information and tools to help them be an active participant in their care pathway and improve quality of life.
The meeting takes place on Wednesday, November 20 from 6 to 9 pm at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Miller Amphitheatre – Juravinski Tower (level 2), 50 Charlton Avenue, Hamilton. A light diner will be served at 5 pm. Pre-registration is required: kidneycancercanada.ca/hamilton2019 or 1-866-598-7166.
The patient, caregiver, family and survivor meeting is an in-person information session where participants learn about surgical innovations in kidney cancer management, current systemic therapy for advanced kidney cancer, how to advocate for cancer and supportive care.
“Information sessions are an essential part of my work” says Anil Kapoor, Uro-Oncologist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare. “They help patients and families navigate information about kidney cancer and give them the tools to make an informed joint decision with their doctor about their care.”
“This session is vital to anyone touched by kidney cancer” says Stephen Andrew, Executive Director of Kidney Cancer Canada – Cancer du rein Canada and kidney cancer survivor. “Evidence shows survivors and patients who are informed see improved outcomes.”
Dr. Sebastien Hotte, Medical Oncologist, Juravinski Cancer Centre and Dr. Marissa Slaven, Juravinski Cancer Centre join the line up of speakers with Dr. Anil Kapoor and Stephen Andrew.
