Ed Faddies a rejoint le conseil d’administration de Cancer du rein Canada en 2023.
Ed a occupé des postes de direction dans le domaine de la technologie et a acquis de l’expérience dans les secteurs de la finance, des télécommunications et, plus récemment, dans l’industrie du détail. Ed a passé plus de 20 ans au sein de la Société Canadian Tire (SCT) où il a occupé des postes de direction de la technologie soit le déploiement de l’infrastructure technique, la direction du bureau de gestion des projets technologiques et le renforcement des défenses de la SCT en tant que chef des opérations de cybersécurité de l’entreprise. Actuellement, Ed est responsable des plates-formes matérielles des magasins, y compris le réseau, les serveurs et les postes de travail de plus de 1 700 points de vente de la famille d’entreprises de Canadian Tire.
Ed est un patient dont le parcours a commencé au début de l’année 2020 lorsqu’il a reçu un diagnostic de carcinome rénal à cellules claires découvert fortuitement. Il a subi plusieurs interventions et traitements au cours des mois et des années qui ont suivi, notamment une néphrectomie partielle, une néphrectomie radicale, une lobectomie thoracoscopique vidéoassistée, une ablation par radiofréquence et de la radiothérapie stéréotaxique (SBRT). Il reçoit actuellement un traitement systémique pour sa maladie métastatique.
Ed a pu profiter des ressources et des programmes de soutien importants de Cancer du rein Canada et les a trouvés inestimables tout au long de son parcours. La vidéothèque, les documents de soutien aux patients, les forums de patients et les conseils d’experts, ainsi que les cafés-rencontres, lui ont été très utiles. Lorsque l’occasion s’est présentée à lui de « rendre la pareille » en rejoignant le conseil d’administration de Cancer du rein Canada, il l’a fait avec enthousiasme.

Giving life, love and happiness to my family over the passed ten years fighting stage 4 cancer. The wisdom, guidance and direct approach gave me the tools to empower myself to not be part of a process. As Dr Anil Kapoor always said your in control if you need direction, ask.

March 8, 2023 at 6:00 pmI am very sad to hear about the passing of Dr. Kapoor. He saved my live when I had kidney cancer 10 years ago. Ever since then, I have seen and talked with him once a year for follow ups. He was such a kind and compassionate person whilst being top league scientist in his field. I do remember his reaction, when I had enhanced imagery of my CT scans to even better visualize the lesion on one of my kidneys, because I am a professional in this field. He was just amazed and used this printout for the later surgery. I felt immensly privileged to have had the absolut best surgeon available in Canada, likely the world. My condolences reach out to his family and friends. I will never forget you, rest in piece Dr. Kapoor.

His heart and soul came through in his every action on behalf of patients and their families. March 13, 2023 at 3:22 pmSometimes we meet a person who leaves a profound footprint on your life. As a former patient, I had just 4 meetings with Anil. It did not take long to see what a kind and compassionate physician he was. He performed a very difficult partial nephrectomy on a benign tumor in Feb 2020. I am eternally grateful for Dr. Anil’s care and extraordinary competence. He was a brilliant surgeon one could easily befriend. My sincere condolences to his close friends, family and colleagues. His passing is a tremendous loss to the medical community but his life’s achievements, leave a remarkable legacy and many grateful patients who will never forget him. Rest in peace good doctor.
